Through the individual and group classes offered by the Chinese Learning Society, I was able to meet some great people who have a shared interest towards Mandarin Chinese learning. The classes are designed in a way that could help for a life in China as a foreigner. For example, we learnt the Mandarin terminology needed to rent a house in Beijing or to go visit a doctor in China! The tutors have been great supporters for our journey towards Mandarin Chinese learning.

I started studying Chinese on my own a few years ago, but I was always fairly lazy with it. I would sit down one after noon and write dozens of flashcards only to lose interest in them for weeks at a time. I joined the Chinese learning society to force myself to keep practicing. The weekly lessons provided a lot of information to keep me interested in the language I was studying, and by speaking about different topics we made ourselves think in different ways about the words we were using. The teachers were all incredibly helpful and dedicated to our learning and always pushed us to improve.
